Web sites with search engine optimisation built in!
|
Most web developers will design a site starting
from your goals for the site - the items or ideas you are selling
or propagating. They will talk to you about the visual elements,
the style, the flash buttons, the "visual hierarchy".
Once the site is finished they will start talking about search
engine optimisation, and "submitting" your site to
search engines.
By then its to late! Its not like putting the cart before
the horse, its more like putting the cart in a bog several miles
behind the horse, and then setting it on fire. (The cart, not
the horse).
We will also talk to you about "visual hierarchy", but
we will always temper our design with the practicalities of
getting your site listed. We know what
works for search engines, and what does not.
We create a website without favouring any one aspect of the
design - by constantly tempering one aspect with another - as
a result web page design is about the art painless compromise
(painless to you, at least!) We place equally high priority
on usability, visual appeal, search engine friendliness, functionality,
and content. |
Pricing
We do not have a fixed page-rate for development - every
site is unique - we can provide a quick quote on a job that
will give you a ballpark
figure. We will help you develop
a plan for your site - plus the content and structure that
will realise that plan, and this will evolve through discussion
- which is why we like to start with a ballpark figure.

miracles" Miracle Max
Edible Media projects tend to evolve. We are meticulous and
for this reason we will not guarantee "rush jobs".
We will give you an indicator of the likely time frame with
the quote. |

Our Websites
Edible Media has a small number of high quality websites
in our in-house portfolio . Gethin Coles, the primary designer
and account manager has been a freelance designer for many
years working with other website designers, until going freelance
in 2001. We are able to offer these services because of our
strategic partnerships with companies and freelancers that
are specialists within their own fields.

this site is for a creative
arts festival. |
brief
|
To totally revamp the
festival's web presence. To give it a
friendly, fun, modern feel. Site must
give a personal face to the festival,
include all 50 or so courses, and integrate
a simple booking system.
|
What
we did
|
We created a cookie-based
booking system. As each person needed
a separate booking form this allowed
us to store common details and automatically
fill in the fields on the booking form.
All the photographs on the site came
from different sources and all were quite
different so we processed all them to
give them a similar "feel".
We also added a web-based mailing list
system to allow the site to keep track
of subscribers.
|
| This site has a "captive
audience" and was not submitted to
search engines. |

Sandy had
a web presence for several year that failed
to generate a single order. Despite having
a jaded view of the effectiveness of web trading
she took us on to revamp her site.
We created a very friendly, funny, cute
web-presence to reflect the product. We wanted
to give the site a lot of personality - as
do the cards. Budget didn't allow for a database
driven shopping site, so we integrated a
web gallery with an online shopping cart.
We added some flash to the site to bring
it alive. In the first two weeks of being
in the top 10 of google sandy received more
enquiries than in the previous 2 years.
